D. Bruce Gardiner

Utility Local Improvement District No. 81 brought sanitary sewer service to the Upper Denny Park area in 1992. Bruce Gardiner was among the homeowners involved in the ULID process. The public meetings he attended stirred his interest in the operations of the District. In his view, the office of Commissioner is the perfect opportunity for service to the local community.

Bruce was born in the Puget Sound area. His grandparents originally moved to live on Lake Washington 100 years ago. The son of a naval officer, he lived all over the country for much of his younger days. As an adult, Bruce found himself attracted to his birthplace. In 1968, the Gardiners moved back to the area. Bruce has a law office in Juanita. He practices mainly in the area of real estate, business, and copyright and trademark law. His wife K.K. is retired. They have two grown sons with families of their own.

Suzanne Greathouse

Commissioner Greathouse is a dedicated community professional who brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience to support NUD’s continued ongoing mission provide necessary services to the community in a safe, reliable, economical, and ecologically responsible manner.

CEO/Co-Founder of REPSVR, a virtual reality skills training platform, Suzanne Greathouse’s diverse experience includes being a business owner, educator/trainer, executive and consultant. She developed and led multi-cultural and virtual teams and managed complex business environments. She is an expert at applying industry best practices and emerging research to specific challenges, enabling and empowering success while improving performance, motivation, and job satisfaction.

She worked for AT&T for nearly 20 years and led efforts in Construction and Engineering, Research and Development, Emergency Preparedness/Disaster Recovery, Network Security, Network Operations, and IT Product Development/Support. In 2017, after a family tragedy, she decided to leave AT&T and focus on serving the community. She ran for Kenmore City Council, served on Northshore Fire District’s Board of Commissioners, City of Kenmore Planning Commission, and Northshore Senior Center Board of Directors. Ms. Greathouse currently serves as an Evergreen Hospital Commissioner and is involved with the Kenmore Heritage Society, Bothell/Kenmore Chamber of Commerce, and Kenmore Business Alliance.

Commissioner Greathouse is also the founder and president of the Alex Greathouse Foundation which provides oral cancer support and funding for treatment, research, and the little extras.

Matt Breysse

Born and raised in Seattle, Matt and his wife Sheila have called Bothell home for over 27 years, raising both of their daughters here.  A veteran teacher, Matt earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s in Administration from Western Washington University, and a teaching certification from Seattle Pacific University. Currently, he teaches history at Juanita High School.

Matt’s commitment to public service led him to apply for the role of commissioner.  As commissioner, he is working to ensure the District continues to emphasize sustainability, environmental stewardship and accountability in its operating practices.  On behalf of our customers, he intends to help protect the District’s safe, reliable, and low-cost water and sewer services.

After originally being appointed to the position in November 2016, Commissioner Breysse was officially elected into office in November 2017.

Tom Mortimer

Tom Mortimer was born in Spokane. After moving with his family to Bellevue in 1961, Tom went on to attend Lakeside School, Connecticut College, and UPS School of Law. Post-graduation, Tom worked in Washington, D.C. as a legislative counsel to Senator “Scoop” Jackson and Congressman Don Bonker. He returned to the Seattle area in 1987 where he worked as Legislative Director to the Washington PUD Association.

In 1991, Tom started his own law practice with a focus on water law, water quality, water supply planning and development, water utility contracting, complex environmental permitting, and federal Indian law issues. He currently works for several local governments and special districts on municipal water supply issues and projects, and in July 2018 was appointed by the Washington State Legislature to the Joint Select Committee on Water Supply. Commissioner Mortimer currently serves on the District’s Information Technology Committee and the Water Supply Emergency Management Committee.

Tom is married to Beth, a pediatric physical therapist and has one son, Dylan, who is an aspiring baseball sabermetrics consultant.

After being appointed to the position in July 2018, Commissioner Mortimer was officially elected into office in November 2019, to serve the term through 2026.

Trudy C. Rolla

Serving as a Board member since 1994, Trudy also attends the Seattle Public Utilities Water System Operating Board. She is on the NUD Emergency Preparedness, Community Outreach and Comprehensive Plan committees.

A native of Seattle, Commissioner Rolla holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health from the University of Washington and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Puget Sound.  She retired September 2013 from her position as a Senior Environmental Health Specialist in the Environmental Health Division of Public Health – Seattle and King County.  There, she spent twelve years in the small drinking water system and ground water management planning programs.  She also worked ten years in the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program of King County conducting program evaluation.

Ms. Rolla has been a member of the Washington State Environmental Health Association since 1982 where she served as Treasurer and a Regional Vice President. She was also a member of the National Environmental Health Association and served three years as the Region 1 Vice President.
